Static perimetry is usually performed with an automated perimeter. A set of test locations is selected; often this is on a 6° spaced grid of the central 24° or 30°. Bright lights of fixed size are shown as the test begins. As the test continues, the dimmest light at each test location is found (visual threshold).

Kinetic fixation is an alternative for fixation control in which the eye follows a moving target. This study was conducted to evaluate the fixation accuracy of static and kinetic fixation perimetry and to determine their ability to detect the absolute scotoma of the physiologic blind spot. PURPOSE: Static fixation is the standard method for stabilizing the eye during automated perimetry. Kinetic fixation is an alternative for fixation control in which the eye follows a moving target. This study was conducted to evaluate the fixation accuracy of static and kinetic fixation perimetry and to determine their ability to detect the absolute scotoma of the physiologic blind spot. With frequency doubling technology, Humphrey Matrix® 800 is proven to detect early visual field loss often missed by other methods, quickly and easily. In clinical practice, these fields are often obtained with office-based static automated perimetry such as the Humphrey visual field (HVF; Carl Zeiss Meditec). The machines are relatively costly, however, so the examinations are generally performed in doctors’ offices.

A previous comparison of semi-kinetic perimetry versus automated central static threshold perimetry reported a median test duration of 13 minutes for the kinetic option and 11 minutes for the static option [2]. We found the opposite in our study with a mean test duration of 4.54 minutes for SKP and 6.17 minutes for Humphrey static perimetry.

How to use the information in the standard charts produced as part of automated static threshold perimetry to determine whether the visual field test satisfies our requirements. To illustrate this, we refer to standard charts produced by the Humphrey Field Analyzer. Purpose: To determine the correlation between fundus perimetry with Micro Perimeter 1 (MP1) and conventional automated static threshold perimetry using the Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA) in healthy individuals and in subjects with glaucoma.

The speed the stimulus is moved should be standardized, typically at 2-4 degrees per second. In static perimetry, stationary stimuli are presented at defined points in the visual field. Stimuli presented for longer durations of time may be seen better as a result of temporal summation of information, though limited additional benefit is derived beyond times over 1/10th of a second.

Reduce visual field testing time with SITA™ Faster. Central testing to view into the macula with SITA Faster 24-2C Conclusions. Humphrey perimetry test duration was generally longer than Octopus SKP. In the absence of kinetic perimetry, peripheral static suprathreshold programme options such as FF120 may be useful for detection of visual field defects.

However, there is less information regarding the use of peripheral static programmes using Humphrey perimetry. Semiautomated kinetic perimetry (SKP) has been further developedinrecentyears, mostnotablywiththeOctopus However, static perimetry requires greater patient concentration, is less efficient in delineating complex lesions extending into the peripheral field, and localizing occipital lobe lesions.[2,3] The most widely used device of this sort is the Humphrey perimeter. 1985-01-01 Semi-automated kinetic perimetry: Comparison of the Octopus 900 and Humphrey visual field analyzer 3 versus Goldmann perimetry Claudia Bevers,1 Gauthier Blanckaert,2 Karel Van Keer,1,3 Jean-Franc ois Fils,4 Evelien Vandewalle1,3 and Ingeborg Stalmans1,3 1Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospitals Leuven, Leuven, Belgium 2Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium FDT and Humphrey Matrix perimetry have been shown to be effective in the detection, evaluation, and follow-up of glaucomatous visual field loss.
