The hike from the Weeping Rock Trailhead to Observation Point is a classic hike in Zion Canyon and the viewpoint at the end of the trail is one of the most iconic in Zion National Park. The Observation Point Trail is a strenuous 8-mile round trip hike along a seemingly unrelenting uphill paved trail that was chiselled out of the canyon walls and cliff formations. I am lucky enough to live in Las Vegas and Zion is a quick 2 1/2 hour drive. I have hiked Angels Landing, Observation Point, Hidden Canyon, the West Rim, and the Narrows, each several times.

The Observation Point Trail leads you to the top of Mount Baldy, rising at a whopping 6,521 feet high with the most iconic views of the park. The hike involves a 2,300 feet elevation gain of challenging switchbacks that lead you to the Zion Also it is not as sketchy as Angels Landing for those afraid of heights. Currently the route via Echo Canyon is closed due to rockfall. When the Echo Canyon route is open it is one of the best hikes in Zion. You may still access Observation Point via the East Mesa Trailhead. This may be accessed from the East Canyon side of the park.
